Rightmove and Nationwide have joined forces to launch a new digital tool aimed at speeding up the homebuying process across the UK. The innovation, announced this week, is designed to improve transparency and efficiency during property transactions by giving buyers and sellers earlier access to vital information.
The tool, named “Buyer Information Pack,” is being rolled out on the Rightmove platform and supported by Nationwide Building Society. It allows sellers to upload key documents such as title deeds, property information forms, planning permissions, and searches at the point of listing, rather than waiting until an offer is made. Buyers browsing Rightmove listings will be able to see these documents instantly, helping them make faster and more informed decisions.
According to Rightmove, transactions in the UK currently take an average of 150 days to complete, often due to delays in gathering information after a sale has been agreed. By shifting the process forward, the new tool aims to cut those delays significantly, reducing fall-through rates and giving agents, buyers, and sellers greater confidence and momentum.
Nationwide, one of the UK’s largest mortgage lenders, has backed the move as part of its broader commitment to improving the housing market. Henry Jordan, Director of Home at Nationwide, said, “This is a practical solution to a well-known problem. Giving everyone access to relevant information from the outset will help reduce uncertainty and wasted time. We’re proud to support this initiative, which we believe will make a real difference.”
Rightmove’s Director of Property Science, Tim Bannister, added, “This is about giving buyers what they want, clear, upfront details to make decisions quicker, and giving sellers a better chance of progressing smoothly. It’s a win-win.”
The Buyer Information Pack is currently in a pilot phase with selected estate agents and is expected to be more widely available later in the year. Both companies hope it will become a new industry standard and encourage wider adoption across the property sector.
Agents and industry bodies have welcomed the announcement, with many noting that the availability of upfront information could transform how homes are bought and sold in the UK. Early feedback suggests the tool is already helping to streamline communication between parties and avoid last-minute surprises.
